3610 Clothing Co. delivers Copley-themed apparel for customers in former post office

The former post office building on Copley Circle is now open for business again. But instead of dropping off mail and buying stamps, people can find T-shirts, decals, water bottles, blankets, pullovers and more, many with Copley-themed or Copley-Fairlawn schools inspired logos.

3610 Clothing Co. opened its doors at the beginning of June and is operated by longtime Copley resident Jason Myers.

While the business space may be new, Myers himself has been in the apparel business for more than 25 years, starting a couple of years after he graduated from Copley High School in 1990. He moved to Cleveland for a few years before returning to Copley about 10 years ago. He has been married for 19 years and has two daughters, ages 14 and 12.

"I've always been creative," Myers said. "I knew I wanted to go into my own business."

Myers said he started the apparel business from home, using a second bedroom to set up shop. He started out by selling apparel to his friends.

"I was literally selling T-shirts from the trunk of my car," he said.

If customers are looking for a decal or product for a favorite sports team or activity, the items can be found or made, Myers said. The building has space for Myers to print the apparel in-house. This includes decals for Copley Township, football, tennis, basketball, band and more.

"We get a lot of our ideas from our customers," Myers said. "Customers give us feedback on what they like to see, and one asked for something with band. An employee here, who has a daughter in band, said that there wasn't a lot of band items, so we created a decal."

3610 Clothing Co. expands on existing enterprise

Myers said that 3610 Clothing Co. is in addition to his initial company, Slacker Inc., which he has owned for more than 25 years. Slacker Inc. provides apparel to motor sports teams, the crew, drivers, executives and sponsors.

When he moved into the former post office, Myers said he realized he had space to branch out into supplying locally themed apparal.

"It's a great building," he said. "It's exactly what I needed."

Myers said the location has provided a connection to the community.

"My electrician, his father worked here," Myers said. "His uncle worked here when it was a post office. There have been some older customers who come in and say, 'Oh, I remember when this was the post office.' When I'm long gone, I hope people will remember when there was a clothing store here, where there used to be a post office."

Myers, who has three employees, said he had actually started moving into the former post office building about four years ago and had hoped to open earlier, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced him to postpone his plans.

In the future, Myers said he would like to expand.

"I can see this expanding a bit into the retail side," he said. "I'd like to be a pillar in the community."
