37 chickens killed in Hillsborough shed fire

HILLSBOROUGH - Officials are continuing to investigate a late night fire on Triangle Road that killed 37 chickens in a shed, police said Sunday.

At 10:16 p.m. Saturday, police responded to 331 Triangle Rd for a report of a structure fire, said Corp. David Brown of the Hillsborough Township Police Department.

Police found discovered a shed on the property fully engulfed in flames and heavy smoke. Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly, but 37 chickens in the shed died as a result of the fire, Brown said.

There were no injuries to humans sustained. No other structures were damaged.

The fire is not considered suspicious but remains under investigation by the Hillsborough Township Bureau of Fire Safety, Brown said.

Agencies that responded included the Hillsborough Fire Marshall, Hillsborough Fire units 36, 37 and 38, Neshanic Fire Unit 48 and Robert Wood Johnson EMS.
