  1. An NYPD officer was shot on Staten Island Thursday morning, marking the third cop shot this year. At a press conference police blamed the shooting on the proliferation of illegal guns on the streets. The officer had been carrying out a search warrant to investigate a suspected drug dealer.   2. Newly elected Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg made clear Thursday that he's not backing down on the reform policies laid out in a memo from his office. That includes downgrading the penalties on certain robberies – but not on any that involve gun violence. (New York City Patch)

  3. Mayor Eric Adams will take his first paycheck in the cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and Ethereum, fulfilling a campaign promise. While he can't actually be payed in crypto, his U.S. dollar paycheck will be converted by Coinbase before it's deposited in his account. (New York City Patch)
