4.5-magnitude quake in Nevada shakes Sacramento, Truckee and South Lake Tahoe

A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck Nevada on Friday -- and was felt all the way in Sacramento, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake hit about 3.1 miles east of Indian Hills, Nevada, according to KCRA. There were no reports of damage, the news outlet reported.

Initially, the earthquake was categorized as a 5.0-magnitude earthquake, according to the National Weather Service Reno.

Nearly 2,200 people reported feeling the earthquake, according to the Reno Gazette Journal.

People reported feeling the earthquake in Pollock Pines, Sacramento, Truckee and South Lake Tahoe, according to KSBY News.

Graham Kent, director of the Nevada Seismological Laboratory at the University of Nevada, told the Gazette Journal that people should be prepared for aftershocks.

Carson City has had six earthquakes in the past 24 hours and eight in the past week, according to Earthquake Track.
