1 dies, 3 hurt in downtown Portland crash; driver booked on DUII

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person died and 3 others injured when 2 cars collided in downtown Portland, a crash in which one driver was booked for DUII and assault.

Investigators said the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta, later identified at Jacob M. Tabor, hit one car on SW Naito Parkway in a minor collision. But Tabor kept going and slammed into a Toyota Camry that was stopped at a red light on Naito and Columbia.

There were 3 men in the Camry, one of whom was pinned in. Officers in the area almost immediately got to the crash scene and began doing CPR on the pinned in man. Authorities said he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital Saturday afternoon.

The other men in the Camry plus Tabor were all taken to the hospital. At this time, the Camry driver remains hospitalized but the others were treated and released, police said.

Tabor, 46, was then booked into the Multnomah County Jail for DUII and and 2 counts of assault. Authorities said he will likely face additional charges related to the death.
