Student from Orange Park was selected to compete in McDonald’s All American Games

Update Jan. 25: Taliah Scott from St. Johns Country Day School has been selected to join the elite players for the All American Games to compete in Houston.

Scott was chosen out of 722 nominees.

She has the chance to show her talent at the All American game on March 28.

The girls team features 24 players from across the country.

Jan. 11: Four basketball athletes were nominated from the Jacksonville area for a chance to compete in the McDonald’s All American Games.

722 of the nation’s boys and girls were nominated by their high school coach, athletic director, principal or a member of the McDonald’s All American Games committee.

This gives these young basketball players an opportunity to be recognized by other professional athletes.

The athletes that were nominated from the Jacksonville area are:

· Taliah Scott, St. Johns Country Day School, Orange Park, Fla.

· Mason Baksh-Renfroe, Seacoast Christian Academy, Jacksonville, Fla.

· Tevon Fitzgerald, Seacoast Christian Academy, Jacksonville, Fla.

· Tijia Johnson, Seacoast Christian Academy, Jacksonville, Fla.

If the young athletes were to be selected, they will get a chance to play in the nation’s premiere showcase that previously featured players including Shaquille O’Neal, Candace Parker, Anthony Davis, Maya Moore, Trae Young, Breanna Stewart, and many more professional basketball players.

The top 24 girls and 24 boys will be selected on Jan. 24 on NBA Today from 3-4 p.m. on ESPN.
