4 Massachusetts restaurants ranked among top 100 places to grab a meal in America

Four Massachusetts eateries are drawing national attention after landing on Yelp’s list of the “Top 100 US Restaurants” for 2022.

“Despite a challenging pandemic, Yelpers are still finding great places to eat. Whether dining indoors, lunching on a breezy patio, ordering takeout, or getting delivery, our hungry community has been enjoying fantastic meals in every corner of the US,” Yelp wrote in its 9th annual restaurant report.

Cocina Madrigal in Phoenix, Arizona, was crowned the top restaurant in the country, but the Bay State’s food scene was well represented in the ranking.

Sarma in Somerville was named the 33rd best restaurant.

In its review of Sarma, Yelp wrote, “This insanely popular restaurant features a Turkish meze (small plates) menu created by 5-time James Beard award nominee Cassie Piuma, who mastered Mediterranean cooking under the mentorship of co-owner (and James Beard winner) Ana Sortun.”

Yelp noted that “diners go nuts for” Sarma’s Harissa BBQ Duck, Pumpkin Fritters, and Venison Dates with pistachio labne, pomegranate and dukkah.

Fox & the Knife in Boston checked in at 70th on the list.

“Led by chef-owner Karen Akunowicz—winner of a James Beard Foundation award for Best Chef Northeast—Fox & the Knife is a vibrant communal space,” Yelp wrote of the restaurant.

Prezza is said to be known for its weekly “Gravy Sunday Specials” including Cheese Arancini and Plum Tomato Sauce and Chicken Parmigiano with tagliatelle pasta and San Marzano tomatoes.
