4 new members of Pennsylvania Army National Guard sworn in at Yuengling festival

Jul. 10—POTTSVILLE — Organizers and patrons at the Yuengling Stars and Stripes Summer Celebration showed their support for the armed forces Saturday evening at a special enlistment ceremony.

Just before the Nick Tauer Band's performance, four new members of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard were officially sworn in on the festival's main stage, located near the intersection of Laurel Boulevard and Progress Avenue, in front of a crowd of several thousand people.

Brig. Gen. Edwards Little, assistant adjutant general of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, administered the oath to the enlistees — Dalianny Green, of Dauberville, Berks County; Autumn Border, also of Dauberville; Brynn Buschta, of Kempton; and William Ulsh, of Pine Grove.

Pottsville Mayor Dave Clews made the formal introduction to the swearing-in ceremony.

"You're about to enjoy a very special moment," he said, "because if there's (anything) more American than good country music, good Yuengling beer in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, it is honoring those who serve and protect our country."

The audience applauded and cheered in approval.

"I have never been in a more veteran-friendly place in my life," Little said to the crowd before administering the oath. "And to that, I thank you."

He told the people to support the new members of the National Guard and to appreciate what they do.

"These four recruits, they're getting a treat here, and I want you to make them feel welcome and proud of what they're doing," Little said. "And if there's anybody out there that wants to do what they're doing, come talk to me afterwards, all right?"

Also on hand for the event was a color guard consisting of Master Sgt. Derrick Flood, recruiting section chief, of Gilbertsville; Sgt. 1st Class Craig Strohl, an Army National Guard recruiter, of Summit Hill; Staff Sgt. Ty Brautigam, an Army National Guard recruiter, of Wyomissing; and Staff Sgt. Tyler Lundquist, Pottsville Area Army National Guard recruiter, of Palmyra.
