4 restaurants closed, bugs seen in several places in latest Fort Worth health inspections

Four restaurants were temporarily closed and bugs were observed at six places to eat in the latest Fort Worth health inspections, according to city data.

There were 150 inspections of businesses and other locations that serve food from March 3 to March 16.

Fort Worth inspection scores are based on a demerit system. When the total exceeds 30, the restaurant must take immediate corrective action on all identified critical violations, then has 48 hours to initiate corrective action on all other violations.

Four establishments were closed for serious violations.

Victory Temple Ministries at 2517 Loving Ave. received 22 demerits and was closed due to no hot water.

Maria’s Mexican Kitchen at 1217 S. University Drive received 10 demerits and was closed because coolers were not holding the proper temperature and food was being held at unsafe temperatures.

Donatella Trotti at 3515 Horne St. scored 8 demerits and was not allowed to open due to multiple violations, including no electricity.

Ol South Pancake House at 1509 S. University Drive scored 8 demerits in an initial inspection and in a follow-up but was ordered to stay closed until live insects at the restaurant were eliminated.

Pancho’s Mexican Buffet at 2434 Jacksboro Highway was reopened in a follow-up inspection after being closed and was ordered to keep up with pest control.

Ocean 7 Food Mart at 3540 Miller Ave. was the third restaurant that had a follow-up inspection, receiving 19 demerits.

Three restaurants received over 30 demerits:

  • Pancho’s Mexican Buffet at 2434 Jacksboro Highway

  • Akarii at 628 Harrold St., 36

  • Pancho Tacos at 4063 E. Lancaster Ave., 35

There were 10 restaurants that did not reach 30 demerits, but still had high scores:

  • Takara Japanese Restaurant at 3088 Basswood Blvd., 29

  • Stir Fry at 4800 S. Hulen St., 28

  • Mamma Mia Italian Grill & Pizza at 3124 E. Belknap St., 27

  • House of Pho at 12848 South Freeway, 26

  • Edohana Hibachi & Sushi at 5816 Southwest Loop 820, 26

  • Mexican Inn Cafe at 2700 E. Lancaster Ave., 25

  • Texas Style Chicken & Seafood at 3854 E. Lancaster Ave., 25

  • No Frills Grill & Sports Bar at 12846 South Freeway, 25

  • Los Tacos HS at 3025 Cleburne Road, 25

  • Taqueria Guelaquetza at 2400 Vaughn Blvd., 25

Roaches were observed at:

  • E Z Way Shopping at 4700 E. Lancaster Ave., 19

  • Hooked On Sushi at 4750 Bryant Irvin Road, 17

  • Wabi Sabi Sushi at 2740 Western Center Blvd., 16

  • Ol South Pancake House at 1509 S. University Drive

Flies and gnats were seen at:

  • Waffle House at 251 W. Rendon Crowley Road, 19

  • Union Gospel Mission at 1321 E. Lancaster Ave., 18
