The Jets entered another stratosphere of bad games in the team’s history on Sunday.

The 54-13 loss to the Patriots was one of the worst in a long time. Not much went right for New York, as the team dropped to 1-5 on the season. Now the Jets must figure out what to do next after Zach Wilson suffered a knee injury.

New York’s pitiful performance didn’t set any firsts for the franchise, but a few stats took the team back a few decades – on offense and defense. Here are four standout stats from the Jets’ Week 7 loss to the Patriots.

Scoreless first quarter

The Jets haven’t scored a single point in the first quarter through six games this season after Matt Ammendola missed a 48-yarder against the Patriots. Not only have the Jets been outscored 44-0 in the first quarter, but they’re also the first team without a point in the first frame through six games since the 2008 Lions, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. The Jets aren’t as bad as that team, which went 0-16, but they’ll be pretty close if they continue to score so infrequently.

50-burger given up

The Jets gave up a season-high 54 points Sunday, the fourth-most allowed by the team in franchise history, according to The AP’s Dennis Waszak. Two of the three games ahead of this one were also against the Patriots: the Jets allowed 55 to New England in 1978 and 56 in 1979.

Lots of yards allowed

Not only did the Jets allow the most points since 1978, but the 551 total yards the Patriots tallied were the most against Gang Green since a 1998 game against Steve Young and the 49ers, according to ESPN. New York allowed 557 yards that day. Coincidentally, Bill Belichick was the Jets’ defensive coordinator during that game.

Still no interceptions

(David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports)

The Jets’ defense failed to intercept a pass for the sixth game this season and eighth dating back to 2020. The last such drought came from the Lions last year. They went eight games without a pick, according to the New York Post. The longest streak was the Raiders from 2016-2017 when they didn’t record an interception for 11 consecutive games.
