4-star defensive lineman Gracen Halton decommits from Oregon Ducks

A week before National Signing Day, the Oregon Ducks have lost a defensive commit.

Gracen Halton, a 2022 four-star defensive lineman from San Diego, announced on Twitter he was decommitting from Oregon.

"First off, I would like to thank the Oregon Community, you guys have shown a lot of love," said Halton. "I want to thank Coach Cristobal, Coach Mastro, Coach Joe (Salave'a) for giving me the opportunity to come and play at the University of Oregon when they were there.

"After a great conversation with my family, I would like to announce that I am decommitting from the University of Oregon."

Last weekend, Halton visited Oklahoma after he decided not to sign with Oregon during the earlier signing period in December. He committed to former Oregon coach Mario Cristobal and the former Ducks staff last year during the spring.

According to 247Sports, Halton is the 33rd best defensive lineman in the 2022 class and the 21st best recruit in California.

Oregon still now has three unsigned verbal commitments in the 2022 class: four-star safety Trejon Williams, three-star athlete Justius Lowe and three-star tackle Kawika Rogers.

In December, Oregon coach Dan Lanning signed defensive linemen Sir Mells, Ben Roberts and Anthony Jones to the 2022 class. Defensive tackle Sam Taimani, who transferred from Washington, has enrolled at Oregon and will be eligible to play next season.

With Halton decommitting from Oregon, the Ducks 2022 recruiting class now stands at 60th overall and eighth in the Pac-12, according to 247Sports Composite.
