4 things to do this weekend in Houma and Thibodaux include fishing, food and trivia

Here are four things to do this weekend in Houma and Thibodaux:

Compete in a fishing rodeo

Houma's Krewe of Hercules will hold its Festival on the Bayou and Fishing Rodeo this weekend.

It's scheduled Thursday through Saturday at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center, along Barrow Street near La. 311.

The festival includes live music, an auction and a jambalaya cookoff.

Rodeo tickets, $30, can be purchased at all local marinas and sporting goods stores.

Sample food and drink at Houma benefit

Pairings for a Purpose is scheduled for 6-10 p.m. Friday at the Bayou Terrebonne Distillery, 8043 W. Main St., Houma. It includes live music and signature cocktails paired with local food, as well as an auction.

The event raises money for CASA of Terrebonne, a nonprofit that trains volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children whose cases are winding through the parish courts.

Vist downtown Thibodaux for Cajun Linen Night

Stroll downtown Thibodaux as bars, restaurants and shops offer specials and extended hours Friday for Cajun Linen Night.

The event, 5-8 p.m., will include live music, local street vendors and children's activities, most along West 3rd and 4th streets. Visitors are encouraged to wear white linen.

It's sponsored by Thibodaux Main Street, Louisiana Travel and Louisiana's Cajun Bayou.

Test your trivia knowledge

Test your trivia knowledge or simply enjoy the festival-style atmosphere Saturday at the St. Bernadette Knights of Columbus' Fourth Annual Trivia Night.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., and the trivia contest will begin at 6 p.m. in Herbert Hall, behind St. Bernadette Cathoiic Church, 409 Funderburk Ave., Houma.

Dinner and concessions will be sold. There will also be mini-games, door prizes and a costume contest.

There's no entry fee to attend as an observer. To enter the trivia contest solo, as a couple or in teams of up to six people, the fee is $25 per person.
