I-40 bridge into Memphis closed for investigation

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A police investigation closed the Interstate 40 bridge from Arkansas into Memphis on Tuesday afternoon. It later was reopened.

Eastbound lanes were closed for the investigation, while westbound lanes were significantly backed up.

TDOT reported the incident at 4:30. Investigators could be seen looking over the side of the bridge. Fire trucks were visible on Mud Island.
