$400K Sterling Heights home has pool-size koi pond, custom aquariums throughout

A one-of-a-kind house in Macomb County has created a lot of buzz on social media recently, garnering the attention of Zillow Gone Wild.

The popular social media page highlights real estate listings that shock and delight its 2 million-plus followers with odd or extravagant features shared via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.

The post about a Sterling Heights home with multiple built-in aquariums and a koi pond has had nearly 6,000 comments, more than 40,000 likes and more than 3,000 shares since it posted about two weeks ago.

The house, still listed for sale as of Wednesday morning, is advertised as a 2,700-square-foot, custom-designed, ultra-modern luxury home built in 1974 and remodeled in 2021. It's located at 11957 Canterbury Dr. and includes a seven-car driveway, a floating staircase, natural stone slate flooring, a unique chrome kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a fish tank behind the sink that can also be enjoyed from the great room, and a basement, described as "an entertainer’s dream."

The backyard has a custom-built koi pond and rock oasis.

Remarks about the property's angled walls, aquariums, glassed blocked windows, first-floor gym by the living room, floating staircase, abundant stone, glass and stainless steel features, and the curiosity of neighbors over the years fill the comment section.

“Grew up in that neighborhood, always wondered what the inside looked like. The rumor always was that the owner made custom aquariums for a living,” one commenter said.
