40th annual Bald Eagle Watch rescheduled for Feb. 17

Jan. 16—Eagles might not mind the cold, but eagle watchers tend to be more susceptible to frostbite and other winter injuries. And because of the dangerous weather this past weekend, Due to the winter storm followed by frigid temperatures, the 40th annual Bald Eagle Watch originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 13, has been rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 17.

The event will take place simultaneously in two locations, Clinton Community College and Lock and Dam 13 in Fulton, Illinois. The event is free to attend, and there will be a free shuttle operating on a continuous route between locations.

Educational programs and environmental exhibits will be available from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Clinton Community College campus, 1000 Lincoln Blvd. The program schedule at the college is:

—9:30 a.m. Welcome with Matthew Cihaski (USACE) and Jacquelynn Albrecht (USFWS)

—10 a.m. Live birds of prey presentation "Wings and Talons"

—11 a.m. Upper Mississippi River NWFR Celebrating 100 Years with Ed Britton (USFWS)

—12:30 p.m. Live bald eagle presentation by Kay Neumann (SOAR)

—1:30 p.m. Conservation Kids program by Clinton County Conservation and USFWS.

Food and beverages will be available to purchase.

Eagle viewing with naturalists will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Lock and Dam 13, 4999 Lock Road in Fulton, Illinois.

A warming station will be available as will light refreshments while supplies last.
