I-43 crash near Howard Ave. kills 1 woman, sends another to hospital

A car crash on I-43 near Howard Ave. killed one woman, sent another person to the hospital and blocked all northbound lanes of the interstate for more than 3 hours Sunday evening, authorities reported.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office reported there were two individuals in the vehicle, an adult woman who died at the scene and another person who was taken to a hospital.

The crash happened around 7:16 p.m. near W. Howard Ave., according to the state Department of Transportation. DOT estimated northbound traffic would be blocked for more than two hours. The northbound ramp at Howard Avenue is closed due to the crash. The lanes were reopened just after 10:30 p.m.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the scene of the single-vehicle crash.
