44 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Luzerne County on Sunday

Feb. 21—The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported another 44 cases of COVID-19 and one more death in Luzerne County on Sunday.

The county has 24,505 positive cases and the death toll is 714.

A total of 45 COVID-19 patients in Luzerne County are hospitalized, with 10 adult patients in intensive care units and eight patients on ventilators.

Statewide there are 1,906 additional cases, bringing the total to 913,497. The death toll rose by 27. It is now 23,597.

Sunday's data was culled from the COVID-19 dashboard at the health department's website. The department does not issue news releases with updated information on Sundays.

* Rite Aid on South River Street in Plains Twp. is providing tests and patients must pre-register at riteaid.com.

* MedExpress Urgent Care locations on Kidder Street in Wilkes-Barre and the West Side Mall in Edwardsville are providing tests. Patients can schedule a test at medexpress.com/covid19.html.

* CVS in the Midway Shopping Center in Wyoming and in Exeter provide drive-thru testing and can be scheduled by visiting cvs.com.
