Silver Alert canceled for 44-year-old man reported missing from Gastonia

A Silver Alert has been canceled for a 44-year-old man who was reported missing from Gastonia.

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons said Edgar Islas Mireles is believed to have dementia or another cognitive disability, and had asked for help on Wednesday finding him.

Mireles is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weights 210 pounds. Authorities did not share a photo of him.

Mireles was thought to be headed from a home on Omega Drive in Gastonia to Pasco County, Florida. He was believed to have been in a gray 2006 Ford Mustang convertible with North Carolina license plate number TKT1081.

Authorities did not say what condition Mireles was found in but Channel 9 has asked for more information.
