A married couple in Gilbert claimed the winning Powerball jackpot ticket Friday after it was drawn April 27.

The couple, who asked for permanent anonymity, chose a cash payment and received $283.3 million.

The winning ticket was sold at the QuikTrip gas station near Warner and Gilbert Roads. QuikTrip will be receiving a $50,000 bonus from the Arizona Lottery for being the retailer of the winning ticket.

“As the Powerball rolled over the past few weeks, we saw many winners from all over the state," said Gregg Edgar, executive director of the Arizona Lottery, in a statement. "We are thrilled for this winning couple who came forward to claim this historic jackpot, and we are even happier about how this big win will impact Arizona."

This jackpot was the largest ever won in the state.
