The 49ers’ preparations for the Green Bay Packers will have an added layer of difficulty to navigate. Their offensive and defensive coordinators will both be interview for head coaching jobs, with defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans in line to interview with the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. Offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel interviewed Tuesday with the Dolphins.

It’s a testament to the job Ryans has done with San Francisco in his first year as a defensive coordinator and fifth season as an NFL assistant coach he’s already getting interviews for head coaching jobs.

In a year where injuries hit the 49ers’ defense in all three levels, Ryans’ unit still managed to finish No. 9 in points allowed, No. 3 in yards and No. 7 in total DVOA.

San Francisco promoted Ryans to the defensive coordinator spot this year when former defensive coordinator Robert Saleh was hired to be the New York Jets head coach. Ryans joined the 49ers staff in 2017 as a defensive quality control coach in his first NFL coaching job. He was promoted to inside linebackers coach in 2018, and spent three seasons there before his promotion this offseason.
