49ers practice report: Trent Williams still out, Jimmy Garoppolo still limited

No news isn’t necessarily good news for the 49ers on the injury front.

Their Thursday practice participation report looked largely identical to the one the team issued Wednesday. Left tackle Trent Williams remained out of commission with ankle and elbow issues, and rookie quarterback Trey Lance is still absent with a knee sprain.

One addition to the limited participants was the only change Thursday.

Another absence for Kinlaw isn’t a great sign for him coming out of the bye week. He hasn’t been ruled out, but two days of missed practices don’t bode well for his chances to suit up against Indianapolis. The 49ers told reporters Williams is day-to-day with an ankle injury, so his status for Sunday is in question, though it may be a game-time decision regardless of his practice time.

Hurst is the new addition here. He was not on Wednesday’s report. If Kinlaw is out, Hurst would need to play a sizable role on the defensive line Sunday so that’ll be worth keeping an eye on. Garoppolo could wind up being limited all week, but head coach Kyle Shanahan is optimistic he’ll play.

No setbacks for Williams in his return from a Week 3 calf injury. He’s on track to suit up Sunday.
