5 best touchdowns of the Browns’ disappointing 2022 campaign

With the 2022 Cleveland Browns season over it is time to reflect on the season as well as look forward to fixing the roster. The Senior Bowl starts this week as the NFL combine, free agency, and the 2023 NFL Draft aren’t very far away. The Browns’ offense was a pleasant surprise this year that left fans feeling optimistic for the future if Deshaun Watson can figure it out.

The 2022 season had defensive touchdowns, a special teams touchdown, and some explosive plays on offense. Even though the year was a disappointment overall there is plenty to reflect on that made the season fun even without a winning record.

Here are my top-five Browns touchdowns of the 2022 season.

List

Amari Cooper had a great season for the Browns and was truly a steal for what the team gave up to get him. He ran great routes creating plenty of separation and giving some easy throws opportunities for both quarterbacks. But this play where he slipped by the defender and turned on the jets with a hip injury was the most impressive he had this year.

No one can bring Nick Chubb down vs the Chargers

You could easily make a list of just Nick Chubb touchdowns but this one against the Chargers was my favorite. Multiple Chargers have a chance to get Chubb including a chance to get him for a loss. But no Nick Chubb shows why he’s a special player and somehow avoids multiple tacklers then turns the jets on adds a cut back and makes a house call.

Jacoby Brissett makes multiple Falcons miss on TD run

Jacoby Brissett played better than anyone imagined and there are plenty of great scores to choose from for him this year. But this touchdown run against the Falcons was really impressive. He stood in the pocket and with no one open he showed some nice moves to make people miss and gave the Browns the lead early in the game.

Donovan Peoples-Jones returns a punt for a touchdown

It had been over seven years since former Brown Travis Benjamin had returned a punt for a touchdown. The team had been searching for consistency at the return position since. But that search is over after Donovan Peoples-Jones put it all together this year to show he can be a consistent threat as a returner and scoring on this electric return.

David Njoku forces overtime vs Buccaneers

Even dealing with injuries that forced him to miss games in 2022 David Njoku showed why the team gave him an extension. Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on 4th down Jacoby Brissett put the ball in a place only his guy could get it. Njoku showed his freak-level athleticism to go up one-handed and force overtime leading to a Browns win.

This play was a perfect example of Njoku showcasing how big of an impact he can make with his skill set.
