These 5 Bradenton-area restaurants earned poor scores from Florida health inspectors

Florida’s Division of Hotels and Restaurants routinely inspects restaurants, food trucks and other food service establishments for public health and cleanliness issues.

The reports are public information.

Here are restaurants that failed to meet requirements during recent inspections:

Cold Stone Creamery, 7476 Cortez Road W., Bradenton — Inspected Sept. 29

  • High priority: The establishment was operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license.

  • Intermediate: There was no proof provided that food employees were informed of their responsibility to report to the person in charge information about their health and activities related to foodborne illnesses.

  • Basic: Three violations, including soiled floors and a damaged cutting board.

Golden Wok, 3545 First St., Bradenton — Inspected Sept. 26

  • High priority: An employee failed to wash hands before putting on a hair restraint and gloves to work with food. Corrective action was taken.

  • Cooked pork, cooked chicken, noodles, raw beef and raw shrimp were cold held at temperatures greater than 41 degrees in a reach-in cooler. Corrective action was taken.

  • Intermediate: An employee handwash sink was used to store soiled dishes and utensils. Corrective action was taken.

  • Basic: Four violations, including chicken stored uncovered and a food employee with no hair restraint.

  • The restaurant met inspection standards during a follow-up visit on Sept. 27.

Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet, 3616 First St., Bradenton — Inspected Sept. 27

  • High priority: Chlorine sanitizer was not at the proper minimum strength for manual warewashing. Corrective action was taken.

  • High priority: Raw crab and raw chicken were stored over cooked noodles in a reach-in cooler. Corrective action was taken.

  • Basic: Three violations, including an accumulation of mold-like substance in the interior of an ice machine/bin and hood filters soiled with grease.

Mr. & Mrs. Crab, 497 Cortez Road W., Bradenton — Inspected Sept. 26

  • During a follow-up inspection for previous violations, an inspector found unresolved issues.

  • High priority: Dish machine sanitizer was not at the minimum required strength. An inspector took a sanitizer reading of zero. Corrective action was taken. A person in charge placed a service call for the machine and set up manual warewashing at a three-compartment sink.

  • High priority: Raw shrimp was stored over hard-boiled eggs in a reach-in cooler. Corrective action was taken.

  • Basic: Non-food contact surfaces were soiled with grease, food debris, dirt, slime and/or dust.

Taqueria Mi Rancho, 3603 15th St. E., Bradenton — Inspected Sept. 28

  • High priority: An employee washed gloves instead of changing them after cleaning a sink and then proceeded to work with food.

  • High priority: Beef steak, beef stock, cooked beef, shell eggs, liquid egg and cooked corn on the cob were cold held at temperatures greater than 41 degrees. A stop sale was issued for the items due to temperature abuse, and they were discarded.

  • Intermediate: A dish rack was blocking access to an employee handwash sink. Corrective action was taken.

  • Basic: Two violations, including hood filters soiled with grease.

  • The restaurant met inspection standards during a follow-up visit on Sept. 29.
