Celebrating celebrity baby bumps wasn’t always a thing.

In the most recent past, pregnancy was a hushed subject, considered inappropriate for audiences because it implied that a couple had (gasp!) sex to conceive. The hit television series I Love Lucy tiptoed around revealing Lucille Ball’s baby bump as creators couldn’t even use the word “pregnant” on national television at the time. Eventually, attitudes surrounding pregnancy changed, ushering in a wave of empowering pregnancy announcements.

Musical icon Beyonce nearly shut the internet down with both of her pregnancy announcements. Her ethereal maternity shoots with Blue and later, twins Sir and Rumi, wowed fans. Tennis star Serena Williams introduced her baby bump on the cover of Vanity Fair. On the cover, she bares all, save for her nude underwear and a pretty, little silver waist chain.

Billionaire superstar Rihanna is also no stranger to making headlines. Her fashions, stage performances and meme-worthy reactions have been making their rounds on social media since she stepped onto the Hollywood scene.

In early 2022, she broke the internet after she announced her pregnancy with rapper, ASAP Rocky. Rihanna has always been open about her desire to have children so the news was a welcome surprise for many fans. In her post, she’s wearing a bright pink jacket that unbuttons to reveal her adorable baby bump. And in true Rihanna fashion, the multi-talented artist has been serving her fans pregnancy looks ever since her announcement.

From mini skirts to ripped denim jeans, Rihanna is showing the girls how to do pregnancy in style. But she’s not the only one who’s rocking a cute celebrity baby bump. Several Black celebrities are putting their pregnancy on full display, allowing fans to experience the journey with them. Here are five Black celebs with the cutest baby bumps:

Fans poured into the comment section to congratulate the “Bleeding Love” singer who got her start on the hit TV series The X Factor in 2006.

Her husband Dennis Jauch, famed producer and choreographer, was equally as excited to share the good news. In an Instagram post, he gushed about the singer, calling her “one hot a** Mama”. Shay Mitchell

Because she kept it so well-hidden, many fans were surprised to hear of her pregnancy with longtime partner Matte Babel. But ever since she went public with the news, she’s been serving the girls look after look. Her pregnancy style ranges from casual and comfy to sexy and sultry. No matter what she chooses to wear, her baby bump is always the star of the show.

Multi-talented artist and The Talk co-host Eve took to social media to reveal that she and her husband, Maximillion Cooper were expecting their first child together. In the Instagram post, she tagged her husband, writing that they “finally get to tell everyone” that they’re going to be parents. Eve is no stranger to parenting, however. Her husband has four children from a previous relationship, all of whom Eve treats as her own.

The “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” rapper posted a series of pictures of herself cradling her bump in both casualwear and beautiful gowns. Later, Eve introduced fans to her baby boy, Wilde Wolf Fife Alexander Somers Cooper, who was born in February.
