MADISON, CT — Five new coronavirus cases were reported at Daniel Hand High School and one at Polson Middle School Thursday.

Currently, there are 9 active cases at the high school including one staff member, one at Polson, and two at Jeffrey Elementary, for a total of 12 in the district.

Interim schools superintendent JeanAnn Paddyfoote said in a letter to families that the school district's "contact tracing team worked quickly to identify close contacts and notified them to quarantine effective immediately." And, she noted that, "Schools are still considered to be safe places thanks to the mitigation strategies we have in place to prevent the spread of infection."
