5 Counselors At Dix Hills Day Camp Test Positive For Coronavirus

DIX HILLS, NY — Five camp counselors tested positive for the coronavirus at Park Shore Country Day Camp in Dix Hills, Director Bob Budah said. Three camp pods, or groups of campers that stay separated from one other, are under quarantine, he said.

Children outside of those three pods continue to attend camp.

The camp is following all safety protocols set by New York state, Suffolk County and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Budah said.

A staff member notified the camp on Friday they tested positive, ABC 7 reported. Contact tracing allowed health officials to identify four more cases in staff members who hang out outside of camp.

Park Shore Country Day Camp is located at 450 Deer Park Road and was established in 1959, according to its website.
