With the AMC 12 in West Palm Beach ending its run Sunday, April 30, and two other Palm Beach County movie houses shuttering earlier this year, the options for those who still want to escape their homes and enjoy a full popcorn and big screen experience has dwindled to just more than a dozen theaters.

That means that sometimes the movie you want to see will dictate where you want to go, but when you're feeling a little more flexible, we've picked five theaters that you should give top billing in your considerations. From IMAX to IPIC to family owned, cozy or comfortable, these places elevate that tune-the-world out experience.

1. Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas, The Shoppes at Jupiter, 201 US. 1, Jupiter

Why we like it: There is free, convenient on-site parking, fully reclining leather seats and food and beverage service at your seat with the touch of a button. If all that seems like the full experience may be a bit costly at this spot, consider their half-price ticket Tuesdays along with happy hour all day.

2. CMX, Downtown at the Gardens 16, (formerly Cobb Theaters) 11701 Lake Victoria Drive, Palm Beach Gardens

Why we like it: For selection, this spot is among the best — there's not a movie out there that it isn't showing. The theater was remodeled a few years ago and has cushy, comfortable seats. The only drawback is it can sometimes be difficult to find the main entrance because of poor signage and construction at Downtown at the Gardens.

3. IPIC theaters at 25 SE 4th Ave., Delray Beach and 301 Plaza Real, Boca Raton

Why we like them: There are only three in Florida and two are in Palm Beach County. Established in 2010, IPIC theaters feature fully reclining leather seats or pod seats for privacy along with extensive menu offerings from the touch of a button at your seat.

4. Movies of Lake Worth, 7380 Lake Worth Road, west of Greenacres and Movies of Delray, 7421 Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach

Why we like them: In a word: Price. These family-owned and cozy venues offer a ton of movies at much lower ticket and concession prices than the luxury brand theaters with all the bells and whistles. In addition to the current, popular movies, these two spots show a number of documentaries and foreign films.

5. Paragon Theaters, Delray Marketplace, 14851 Lyons Road, Delray Beach

Why we like it:  As one of IMAX's Extreme theater experiences, the spot recently underwent a million-dollar renovation. It features a 66-foot-wide screen titled at a 15-degree angle to optimize a laser-projected viewing experience. The theater has reclining, heated seats along with bowling, a new restaurant and an arcade in the same building.
