5 free agents Tennessee Titans should consider signing before training camp

NFL rosters are best described as fluid. A lot can happen between now and the start of training camp in late July.

Don’t discount that when it comes to the Tennessee Titans.

They’re built to contend but still have big lingering questions, particularly on offense. And with Julio Jones’ contract off the books, the Titans could look to add a veteran or two to supplement the work they’ve done in the draft and free agency. Tennessee currently has $11.874 million in cap space, according to OverTheCap.com, ranked 19th in the league.

Here are five potential late free agency additions for the Titans ahead of training camp:

WR Will Fuller

2021 team: Miami Dolphins

2021 stats (2 games): 4 receptions, 26 yards

The 28-year-old Fuller played just two games last season, between a 2020 PED suspension, a personal issue and a thumb injury. But he’s just two seasons removed from an 800-yard receiving season. Fuller could be a low-risk, high-reward signing for a wide receiver room clouded by uncertainty.

Coach Mike Vrabel, defensive coordinator Shane Bowen and passing game coordinator Tim Kelly all overlapped with Fuller in Houston, so there is familiarity with the former first-round pick.

OT Daryl Williams

2021 team: Buffalo Bills

2021 stats (17 games): 17 starts

The Titans will give 2021 second-round pick Dillon Radunz a chance to win the right tackle job, but what if his development doesn’t go as hoped? He was a healthy scratch for five games as a rookie. And Tennessee didn’t invest big on the offensive line this offseason, with career backup Jamarco Jones and third-round rookie Nicholas Petit-Frere being the only additions of note.

Williams, 29, could be a dependable, veteran option. He started every game for Buffalo the last two seasons, playing right tackle and right guard.

WR Cole Beasley

2021 team: Buffalo Bills

2021 stats (16 games): 82 receptions, 693 yards, TD

The Titans never had a true slot receiver last season. Fifth-round rookie Kyle Philips could be the long-term option at the spot, but he had a quiet offseason program after a hot start to rookie minicamp. So a veteran like Beasley may be considered.

Beasley is an older player – he'll be 33 this season – but he hasn’t had fewer than 600 receiving yards in a season since 2017.

Adding Beasley would bring off the field questions, though, as he garnered national attention last season for his outspoken stance against COVID-19 vaccinations.

CB Pierre Desir

2021 team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2021 stats (12 games): 28 tackles, 2 INT, 4 PBU, INT

Tennessee has lots of young depth at cornerback, but there could be room for a veteran considering Caleb Farley’s health history and a general need for injury insurance.

The 31-year-old Desir, a former fourth-round pick, brings special teams value too. He played 48% of special teams snaps in the 12 games with Tampa Bay last season.

OL Ereck Flowers

2021 team: Washington Commanders

2021 stats (16 games): 16 starts

Flowers, a former first-round pick, has started 101 of 105 games in his career. He has extensive experience at guard and tackle.

For Washington last season, he was the starting left guard – a void for Tennessee following the release of Rodger Saffold.
