5 injured, including teens, in Franklinton short-term rental shooting

Five people, including multiple teenagers, were injured in a shooting at a short-term rental property early Tuesday morning in the Franklinton neighborhood.

The shooting was reported around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday at a home on the 900 block of Bellows Avenue.

According to Columbus police, a group of teens were having a "pajama party" at the property when multiple people began firing into the home. One person inside the home returned fire, police said.

Five people who were at the party were struck by gunfire.

Police said the victims were identified as a 17-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl, two 18-year-old males and a 19-year-old man.

Police said one person was taken by ambulance to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center. Four other people transported themselves to Nationwide Children's Hospital. The conditions of all five people are described as stable.

Tuesday's shooting comes eight days after a shooting at a short-term rental near the University District injured three men in their early 20s.

The investigation into both shootings is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 614-645-4545 or 614-645-4730.
