$5 million approved to improve safety and help businesses in Sacramento neighborhood

Some big changes are on the way for part of Sacramento’s Natomas neighborhood after the Sacramento City Council voted Tuesday to spend $5 million in federal relief funds to improve cleanliness and safety along Northgate Boulevard. Part of the funding will replace the fencing on Northgate Boulevard from West El Camino Avenue to Bowman Avenue, and from Potomac Avenue to Winterhaven Avenue In addition, traffic calming measures will be implemented to improve public transit, walking, biking and driving. Improvements will also be made to ensure public safety in the area and to attract customers to local businesses. Marbella Sala, president of the Gardenland Northgate Neighborhood Association, told KCRA 3 that these upgrades are a long time coming.
