5 more injury crashes reported at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

Five more injury crashes have been reported at the 83rd Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

A total of 32 injury crashes, along with two fatalities, have been reported since the rally began on Aug. 4. Twenty-seven non-injury accidents have also been reported.

Another 19 DUI arrests were made since 6 a.m. Tuesday, for a total of 71 throughout the rally, slightly below the 77 arrests made in the same time frame last year.

Drug arrests are tracking higher, however — 37 more misdemeanor drug arrests were made for a total of 118, and 33 more felony drug arrests for a total of 68. This time last year, only 80 misdemeanor and 50 felony arrests had been made.

The rally continues through Aug. 13.
