Anyone that has ever worked in customer service knows being friendly and polite to everyone can be hard at the best of times, let alone when you're 40,000 feet in the air and battling against turbulence and several hour flights.

But what are the most annoying things passengers do on aeroplanes, and what are the gripes that really get on flight attendants nerves? Cabin crew member Susan Brown has shared a list of things on Quora:

1. Having bad personal hygiene

Susan says having bad breath is really quite unpleasant for cabin crew, commenting, "When sleeping on a long flight and we start the breakfast service in the morning, wouldn't it be nice to at least chew some gum or take some breath mints when you speak to us in the morning?"

2. Having no control of their toilet habits

"To fart really loud", she added, talking of rude habits passengers often have. "This is a human thing, everyone does this. Being on board a plane for a long period of time, we get gassy, bloated and I understand that. But please don't make a really loud noise, and let it all out as if no one is around."

3. Having bad manners

"When we are welcoming or saying good bye to our passengers. Having eye contact with our passengers and some passengers look us in the eye and just pass us by without even saying anything back. If you are looking at us when we say hello or goodbye isn't it nice to at least smile or say something back. A lot of passengers just look at us and goes away. That is rude, annoying and it make us crew feel invisible. We are not robots, we are humans too."

4. Walking around barefoot

"When passengers walk barefoot on board and to the WC. At least put some socks on. On many flights we give complimentary amenity kits that includes socks. Do they know how dirty/disgusting the aircraft floors are? Obviously not.

5. Not being considerate of others

"When couples are making out in their seats. Do they not understand they are on an aircraft with 100–300 other people? Some even make noises and we have to go and tell them kindly to keep the noise down because they are disturbing other passengers."
