5 NC colleges were among the top grad schools by US News. See where they landed

North Carolina universities landed among the top schools in U.S. New & World Report’s 2023-24 Best Graduate School rankings.

The schools were picked based on multiple factors, such as employment rates for 2022 graduates, mean starting salary after graduation and standardized test scores.

The Duke University School of Nursing ranked fourth overall nationally, and its school of medicine took the No. 6 spot, tied with the University of Pennsylvania.

UNC Chapel Hill also earned a top 10 ranking in nursing, along with the No. 2 spot in library and information studies.

Five North Carolina universities earned top 100 rankings for education graduate programs, with UNC Chapel Hill being placed at No. 21.

UNC Charlotte also improved from last year, with 11 of its graduate programs or specialties increasing their rankings this year, according to a news release from the university. Charlotte’s master of public administration program landed at No. 46 nationally, and its master of business administration program ranked 47th.
