Oregon State Police say Highway 58 near Willamette Pass was closed for about six hours Sunday night while several agencies investigated a fatal two-vehicle crash.

A 5-year-old girl died Sunday night and five other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 58 about 25 miles east of Oakridge, Oregon State Police said.

A preliminary investigation determined a westbound Honda Accord, operated by a 26-year-old Portland woman, crossed the median about 6:09 p.m. into an oncoming Toyota Rav 4, police said.

The driver of the Honda and two passengers were taken to the hospital with injuries. The 5-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

OSP said the two occupants of the Toyota were removed from the vehicle before it caught fire. The 66- and 67-year-old residents of Sun River were both taken to the hospital with injuries.

The highway was closed for about six hours while police investigated the crash. OSP was assisted by the Oakridge Fire Department, Central Cascade Fire Department, Oakridge Police Department and ODOT.
