5 options for stay-at-home fun in SF: Saturday, July 11 & Sunday, July 12

The Bay Area's shelter-in-place order has brought countless events usually held as in-person gatherings online. We're aiming to support local businesses in San Francisco and Oakland by highlighting five of these events each day.

Here's your SF online event calendar for Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12. Paint some cornflowers, hear a local classical guitarist or join a drag show for a good cause.
Watercolor workshop
Community space Hayes Valley Art Works kicks off the weekend with one of its regular watercolor workshops. Tune in as Lucia Gonnella leads students in painting some cornflowers at sunset using the photo above.
Learn about watercolor painting using wet-in-wet or wet-on-dry techniques, and discover how salt can be used to add texture. Make sure you have supplies at home, including watercolor paper, scissors, table salt and drafting tape, as well as watercolor paints. Beecham House: A Conversation with Filmmaker Gurinder Chadha
Then, join the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) for a conversation with filmmaker Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham). She will talk about her latest project, Beecham House, an epic drama about India on the cusp of change.
You'll have a chance to watch some exclusive clips and get a behind the scenes look at Beecham House from Chadha herself. The conversation will also include co-creator, writer, and executive producer Paul Mayeda Berges, as well as actresses Shriya Pilgaonkar and Goldy Notay.

Opening Online Reception for Awakened By The Midnight
Later, see the opening reception for an exhibition featuring 24 Bay Area artists, curated by mixed-media artist Dianne Hoffman, from the comfort of your home. Join live to meet the artists and view the online gallery, as well as the physical exhibition at Arc Gallery in SoMa. There will also be an interactive discussion about the show with an introduction to each artist and their work.
This exhibition aims to represent Bay Area artists that have been creatively "Awakened by the Midnight," bringing together art with elements of mysterythe macabre and "uncanny surrealism."
All pieces will be available for purchase through the online gallery.

Manny's Musical Sundays: Classical Guitarist Lyle Sheffler
On Sunday, Mission-based community space Manny's invites classical guitarist and San Franciscan Lyle Sheffler for a musical Sunday session.
Sheffler began playing classical guitar at the age of seven and has since played at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Freight & Salvage Stadium, the Tilles Center, and the Hanoi Opera House. He is an integral part of the San Francisco music community, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. Sheffler also maintains a local teaching studio and besides the classical guitar, he is proficient on double bass, mandolin, bouzouki, banjo, and lute.

Golden Hour: Serenity - Sunset Drag Show
Then, tune in for Golden Hour, a sunset drag show featuring a tea party and several performances. Golden Hour will raise funds for Black Earth Farms, a Black- and Indigenous-led agroecology collective delivering free food to Black folks participating in and organizing the Oakland uprisings. 100% of the $10 suggested donation will go to the collective.
