Teddy Bridgewater doesn’t look like a long-term answer for the Denver Broncos and the team seems unlikely to go all in on with Drew Lock in 2022. With that being the case, fans in Denver should probably start paying attention to the top quarterbacks in next year’s NFL draft class.

Unfortunately, 2022 is not a standout quarterback class (at least compared to recent years), but there are still prospects the Broncos should consider next spring.

Here’s a look at five QBs Denver fans should follow this fall, listed in order of the most recent Draft Wire rankings.

1. Malik Willis, Liberty

(Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports)

Willis has completed 66.1% of his passes this season for 1,679 yards with 17 touchdown passes against six interceptions through eight games. He has also rushed 118 times for 647 yards and nine touchdowns, making him an intriguing dual-threat QB. Willis has arguably emerged as the top QB prospect in the 2022 class.

2. Matt Corral, Ole Miss

(Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports)

Corral has completed 67.6% of this throws for 1,913 yards with 15 touchdowns against one interception while adding 474 yards and nine more scores on the ground. Corral is certainly in contention for QB1 status in 2022.

3. Carson Strong, Nevada

(Scott Sewell-USA TODAY Sports)

Strong has completed 70.6% of his passes for 2,466 yards with 20 touchdowns against four interceptions this season. He’s not a threat as a runner, but Strong’s passing numbers have been excellent. Strong is trending in the right direction.

4. Sam Howell, North Carolina

(Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports)

Howell has completed 61.1% of his throws for 1,851 yards with 18 touchdowns against six interceptions this season. He has also rushed 96 times for 494 yards and five scores. Howell’s stock seems to be falling, but he’s still a prospect worth tracking.

5. Desmond Ridder, Cincinnati

(Katie Stratman-USA TODAY Sports)

Ridder has completed 63.6% of his passes this season for 1,620 yards with 15 touchdowns against three interceptions. He has also scored three times on the ground this year. Ridder’s stock is rising.

The 2022 NFL draft will be held in Las Vegas from April 28-30. After trading a seventh-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, the Broncos are scheduled to have eight draft picks in 2022. Denver is currently on track to secure a top-15 pick in the first round.
