Your life is busy. Your time is valuable. The Statesman Journal staff works hard to keep you informed of breaking news, give you the scoop on the latest restaurant openings, take you along on adventures into the wilds of Oregon, help you cheer on your local high school athletes, and take you deeper into issues like the environment, politics and education.

Our team of reporters, photographers and editors is locally based. We live and work here just like you, and we know the importance of a robust local newspaper.

So why should you subscribe to the Statesman Journal? Here are five of many reasons:

Subscriber-exclusive stories

Subscribers to the Statesman Journal have access to subscriber-exclusive stories. Recent stories have included a look at the impact of cities updating their rules restricting homeless camping, news of when Bentley's Grill will reopen downtown, Mid-Valley baseball teams to watch in the OSAA playoffs, and an older favorite on a secret Salem museum housing one of the world's largest muscle car collections.

Personalized reading experience

The Statesman Journal offers two apps: The Statesman Journal and the Statesman Journal eEdition. Each can be set up the way you want. The Statesman Journal app allows you to save your favorite stories, adjust the size of the text and set the news alerts you want. It also includes access to the eEdition. The Statesman Journal eEdition app gives you easy viewing of each day's eNewspaper, the digital replica of the print edition.

The apps are available to download on the Apple App store or Google Play.

Read the paper whenever, wherever

With your digital subscription, you can access the daily eNewspaper on your computer, phone or tablet whenever and wherever you are. The eNewspaper is a full electronic replica of the print newspaper published daily, with local news, sports, advertising and features such as comics and puzzles.
