5 surprising travel deals you can get at Costco: From car rentals to African safaris

  • One of Costco's less-known perks is their in-house travel agency Costco Travel.

  • Members can get travel deals on rental cars, cruises, hotels, theme parks, and airfare.

  • Here are 5 different ways you can take advantage of Costco travel deals on your next vacation.

Car rentals

Costco Travel offers members exclusive rates on car-rental brands including Alamo, Avis, Budget, and Enterprise.

You can search by brand or find the best deal using the retailer's low price finder search tool, which allows you to narrow down search results by car type, number of passengers, and luggage amount.

Costco's rental car program also features additional member perks like the ability to book an additional driver at select locations, "book now, pay at the counter" options, zero cancellation fees, and an annual 2% award for executive members.

 

Cruises

Costco members can choose from 11 cruise lines and 14 destinations when booking a cruise through Costco Travel.

Kirkland Signature Cruises from Costco's private label are the best bang for your buck, according to the company's website, with featured deals ranging from a $459 eight-night Carnival cruise to the Bahamas to a $2,016 11-night Holland America Line cruise in Alaska.

Members who book a cruise through Costco Travel can also receive a Digital Costco Shop Card or shipboard credit with every sailing, according to the company.

 

Theme Parks and specialty experiences

Costco Travel offers special deals on theme parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and Disneyland.

The travel agency also features specialty experience packages, including African Safari tours, guided group family vacations with Adventures by Disney, and guided trips through Ireland and Scotland organized by local experts from Brendan Vacations.

Hotels

Members can choose from four hotel brands when booking their stay through Costco Travel, according to the website: IHG Hotels and Resorts, Hyatt, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, and Swissôtel Hotels and Resorts.

If you change your mind, there are no change or cancellation fees for hotel rooms booked online through Costco Travel — unless you are within the hotel's penalty period. Plus, you can still receive World of Hyatt loyalty points for room-only bookings.

Flights

While you can't book flights individually through Costco Travel, you can bundle airfare with your hotel stay and/or rental car booking.

Airfare from most major US cities can be purchased as an add-on with nearly all Costco vacations, the company says. However, the offering does not include all carriers.
