5 sushi spots in Daytona Beach to get your fix after the beach, while shopping or on lunch
When you think about grabbing a bite to eat in World's Most Famous Beach, minds immediately shift to seafood.
For those who aren't into mussels or fried clams strips, a healthier option includes sushi. And there's a plethora of top-notch sushi restaurants in the area, if you know where to look.

Across the nation, there are 15,999 sushi restaurants, according to IBIS World. That's a 3.6% increase from 2021, a consistent yearly increase since 2017.

Sushi is enjoyed by 63% of Americans, according to a survey conducted by Asian food chain Pei Wei in 2020. The survey, stated that more than half of the people in the United States who haven't tried sushi would be willing to test it out if given the opportunity.
For those squeamish about raw fish, there are many cooked sushi options so don't fret!
Here are five sushi restaurants in the Daytona Beach area to try out.
Sushi King
Nestled in a shopping center on the corner of Nova Road and International Speedway Boulevard, it at first doesn't look like much, but once you enter you are transported to a serene, large dining room with low lighting. Booths and tables are sectioned off for privacy.
How it works: It's all you can eat sushi and hibachi, but it's all made fresh to order and there's no buffet. Make sure to bring your appetite!
Appetizers include edamame, tempura, pork gyoza dumpling, krab rangoon, calamari and spring rolls.
For those not in it for the sushi, there's fried rice dishes, yakisoba noodles, hibachi and teriyaki all offered with chicken, shrimp, steak or vegetables.
For those hungry for sushi, there's a variety of regular hand rolls and traditional rolls you see on pretty much every menu: California roll, tuna roll, Alaska roll, vegetable roll, avocado roll, etc.
Then there are the specialty rolls with a variety of fish and toppings, including shrimp tempura, krab, salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, scallops, tilapia, spicy salmon, avocado, cucumber, cream cheese, deep fried rolls, etc.
And yes, there's a tempura chicken roll for anyone dipping their toes into the sushi world.

Fugu Sushi
Located right in downtown Ormond Beach near the Grind Gastropub and the Ormond Garage, there's plenty to do before and after having your sushi dinner date.
This place is on the pricier side but you get what you pay for. Their specialty rolls include a surf and turf roll which has panko crusted lobster tail, grilled asparagus, torched wagyu beef, chimichurri, curly onion and tobiko.
They also offer poke rice bowls, wagyu beef dishes, oysters, sliders and stir-fry.

Ronin Sushi & Bar
Located off Beach Street, it's not a far drive from the beach and is close to the Halifax River.
They have a variety of typical sushi roll options: an octopus roll with kimchi based sauce; cucumber and cilantro; a tempura lobster roll; and a Kobe sirloin roll with tempura krab, asparagus, Hawaiian sea salt and eel sauce.
For those not there for the sushi, there's a variety of small plate offerings like sliders, scallops, sirloin and stir-fry.

Miyabi Sushi
Located right on the beach, Miyabi Sushi is a prime dinner or lunch spot if you're staying on the beach.
With traditional sushi options, this sushi spot also includes a wild salmon roll with pepper salmon, asparagus, topped with salmon, line, wasabi mayo and to bike; a Angus roll with spicy krab meat, and filet mingon; a Valentine's Day roll with Lobster salad; and more.
For those who aren't up for sushi, there's Hibachi entrees as well.

Located within Tomoka Town Center, this is the perfect sushi spot to grab a bite while getting in your shopping.
It's an ideal sushi starter place for those who know what they like. Traditional sushi options are offered along with a fire tuna roll, which has peppered tuna and avocado inside soy paper wrap with spicy tuna, jalapeño and hot sauce on top.
For those not interested in sushi, there are curry dishes, ramen, hibachi, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken or shrimp and more.
