5 things to do in downtown Shreveport

  1. Turn your bad luck into a good time this Friday the 13th at Robinson Film Center’s Freakout. Life will never be the same for a San Francisco banker as his friends begin to betray him one by one in Tommy Wiseau’s cult classic, The Room. Meet Greg Sestero, star of The Room, see the chilling flick and sip Abby Singer’s themed cocktail special – all one spooky night! When: Fri., Jan. 13. Meet and greet at 9 pm, screening at 10 pm. Snap a selfie at downtown’s new ‘From Shreveport with Love’ mural at Edwards and Crockett Street. Pop by Andress Artist and Entrepreneur Center to see the latest artisan-made items at Clean Slate Botanicals and sit in on Open for Critique, an opportunity for artists to learn from each other.   3. Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day- a holiday AND the Krewe of Harambee Parade! Dozens of marching bands, dance troupes, Mardi Gras floats, stilt walkers, and more make this annual MLK/Mardi Gras event one to remember. The parade rolls at 1 pm from Common Street east on Texas to Edwards Street, then over to Milam Street where it heads west to the Municipal Auditorium. Bring the family, it’s always a blast!
