5 things to know about Cedar Point's HalloWeekends including its 2 new haunts

Cedar Point's HalloWeekends is returning for its 26th year.

Each fall the Sandusky amusement park is decorated from its entrance to its far reaches with spooky decorations and hundreds and hundreds of pumpkins.

HalloWeekends has activities during the day for youngsters including corn and hay mazes along with special activities and even trick-or-treating.

At night, the screams are not just coming from the rides but from the park's haunted houses and mazes.

There are also special Halloween-themed shows and actors who roam about the park.

What is the new haunted house at Cedar Point?

The park's resident spookster Mr. Midnight will have his own haunt this fall.

Replacing Hexed, the witch-inspired haunted house by the Gatekeeper roller coaster, the “Book of the Dark” will have guests encounter his or her fears as they walk through the pages of his book.

Four other traditional haunted houses are returning this year. They include: Bloodbath, Fearground Freak Show, Slaughter House and The Haunting of Eerie Estate.

What is the new outdoor scare zone at HalloWeekends?

Suffer from coulrophobia?

Cedar Point's new outdoor scare zone is not for you.

Clownz: Death Metal Tour takes up residence along the midway by the Gemini roller coaster and features The Butchers of Rock band who perform an eternal concert night after night.

There will be live music played by dead metal musicians along with four other outdoor fright zones. They include: CornStalkers 2.0, Tombstone Terror-tory, Cut Throat Cove and Blood on the Bayou.

What is the show line-up for HalloWeekends?

The Midnight Syndicate is returning.

The composers of Halloween music will perform live outside for the first time on the park's Main Stage.

The “Echoes of The Brimstone Club” show will feature some songs from the duo's new "The Brimstone Club" album and include live actors along with pyrotechnics.

The park's entertainment line-up includes 12 experiences including “The Monsters are Coming, Charlie Brown,” “Wake The Dead: A Murder Mystery Musical” and “The Shrieks.”

What Halloween-inspired menu items are being added?

Cedar Point has added some new menu items just for HalloWeekends.

The items include:

  • Smoked wings of fire

  • Maple sausage on a stick with spicy sriracha maple syrup

  • Cheesecake chimichangas with caramel and apple pie toppings

  • Pumpkin pie spiced churros

  • Nashville chicken and waffles

  • An Oktoberfest pizza with mashed redskin potatoes, smoked kielbasa, sauerkraut and cheddar cheese.

  • Cedar Point is also set to bring back HalloWeekends-themed specialty drinks and the “blood bag” alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

When is HalloWeekends at Cedar Point?

HalloWeekends runs Thursday nights, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, starting Sept.14 through Oct. 29.

Hours are 6 p.m. to midnight on Thursdays, 11 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.

The haunts open in the evening.

Some rides and attractions at the park may be closed during HalloWeekends.
