She and her family provided the lead gift for the Morris 100 capital campaign, and she also made possible the latest renovation at the Morris Inn on the Notre Dame campus

She married O.C. “Mike” Carmichael Jr. at age 18, and they welcomed four children together
After Carmichael’s death in 1976, she went on to marry Robert “Bob” Raclin (who died in 2008), and welcomed his four children and their spouses into her family
