5 things to know about the 'Field of Dreams' TV series, which will be filmed in Iowa

With recent news that NBCUniversal's Peacock streaming service will create a limited series based on the iconic baseball movie "Field of Dreams" — and will film in Iowa, just like the 1989 movie did — Iowans may be interested in being part of the action.

The limited series will not film on the baseball diamond constructed for the MLB Field of Dreams game, according to a report from the Hollywood Reporter. But Iowa will still be at the forefront of the series.

Here's what Iowans should know about the upcoming "Field of Dreams" limited series, including how to get involved.

Will the 'Field of Dreams' TV series be filmed in Iowa?

The famous ballfield near Dyersville won't be the home of the limited series, but several Iowa locations will be featured.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, filming will take place in Polk, Mahaska, Clinton and Boone counties in Iowa. There will be additional filming outside of the Hawkeye State, too; Boston, Minneapolis and Los Angeles were also listed.

Iowa companies will also help with production.

"Clear Lake-based Renovo Media Group will support the production with technical equipment and expertise," according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Musco Lighting and Iowa Sports Turf will help light, design and construct the baseball field that will be featured in the show."

How can I audition to be in the 'Field of Dreams' TV series?

There have not been any announcements about how Iowans can audition to be in the series, but the show's creators will need help behind the camera.

If you want to see yourself on the show, your best bet is to make it on as an extra. Information regarding casting for extras is yet to be announced.

Iowans who want to get involved in other areas of the show can register on Produce Iowa. Produce Iowa will hold a production assistant boot camp at its location in Des Moines on June 4-5.

"Produce Iowa and NBCUniversal will be hosting a free professional 'boot camp' style training as part of Produce Iowa’s MediaMasters Series that will prepare Iowans to work on a large-scale production in our state," the statement reads.
