Dec. 26—Keep McAlester Beautiful gives information on where people can take their excess Christmas boxes and other recyclables for disposal in the McAlester area.

1 Where is McAlester's Recycling Center?

The McAlester Recycling Center is located at the Former National Guard Armory at 301 E. Polk Avenue in McAlester.

2 What is accepted at the recycling center?

Items accepted are #1 & #2 plastic bottles, aluminum cans/foil, paper, phone books, magazines, newspaper, paperboard, and corrugated cardboard. There is a 24/7 drop off. It now takes cooking oil too! Bring the cooking oil in containers with lids. Place on the ground under sign.

3 Where else can I take recyclables?

Choctaw Nation Going Green Bins are located at Hook Eales Stadium, Kiamichi Technology Center, Will Roger's Elementary School, Lovera's Grocery, The Choctaw Nation Travel Plaza and Casino, and the Choctaw Nation Food Distribution Center.

The green bins accept paper, phone books, magazines, cardboard, old cell phones, steel and tin cans, plastics, shopping bags, and Styrofoam.
