1. St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Milwaukee

Friday, March 17, is of course St. Patrick's Day, when many Milwaukee bars (Irish or just Irish for the day) open early in the morning. You'll be able to get an Irish breakfast at Kelly's Bleachers, 5218 W. Blue Mound Road, County Clare, 1234 N. Astor St., and McBob's, 4919 W. North Ave.; live Irish music at Mo's Irish Pub at 142 W. Wisconsin Ave. and 10842 W. Blue Mound Road, Wauwatosa; and green beer in all sorts of places. And don't forget: Rides on Milwaukee County Transit System buses are free after 6 p.m. March 17.

2. Alternative St. Patrick’s Day Hike

For a different way to mark St. Patrick's Day, take a guided nature hike from 1 to 2 p.m. March 17 in Lakeshore State Park, 500 N. Harbor Drive. Meet at the park's north entrance, just west of Discovery World. Admission is free. Info: dnr.wisconsin.gov.

3. Road to Wrestlemania at Fiserv Forum

The Road to Wrestlemania runs to Fiserv Forum at 7:30 p.m. March 18. Among the bouts tentatively on the card: Seth "Freakin" Rollins vs. U.S. champion Austin Theory. Tickets start at $20. Info: fiservforum.com.

4. César E. Chávez Celebration at Marcus Performing Arts Center

The Marcus Performing Arts Center's fifth annual César E. Chávez Celebration takes place in Uihlein Hall at 4 p.m. March 19, with a program at 4 p.m. including performances by Ballet Folklorico Xanharati & Alberto Cárdenas and the Mariachi México Internacional. A Mercadera Marketplace brackets the celebration at 2 and 6 p.m. Admission is free. Info: marcuscenter.org.

5. Spring Equinox Hike at Lakeshore State Park

Spring is getting closer all the time. The latest sign: the spring equinox, which chimes in at 4:24 p.m. March 20. Get in the spirit with the Spring Equinox Hike, where you'll be looking for signs of spring from noon to 1 p.m. March 19 in Lakeshore State Park. Admission is free. Info: dnr.wisconsin.gov.
