1. 'Black Nativity' at Marcus Center

Black Arts MKE's production of "Black Nativity," Langston Hughes' Christmas musical set in Milwaukee, returns for its seventh year to the Wilson Theater at Vogel Hall at the Marcus Performing Arts Center. This year's production, with an all-Black, Milwaukee-based cast, features all-new choreography and new musical arrangements. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9, and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10-11. Tickets are $45.50; for Community Night on Dec. 8, tickets are $25, $10 for those 18 and younger. Info: marcuscenter.org.

2. Milwaukee Ballet’s 'The Nutcracker'

3. Milwaukee Hmong New Year celebration

The Milwaukee Hmong New Year celebration, billed as the state's largest, returns Dec. 10-11 to the Wisconsin Exposition Center at State Fair Park in West Allis. 4. Milwaukee Makers Market in the Beer Garden in Deer District

Twenty local makers will be on hand peddling everything from knitwear and artwork to coffee and pastries at the Milwaukee Makers Market camping out in the Deer Garden in the Deer District adjacent to Fiserv Forum Dec. 9-11. The market will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 10-11. Admission is free. Info: Milwaukee Makers Market Facebook page.

5. 'Milwaukee Forever' event at Radio Milwaukee

Inspired by the Marvel movie "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," "Milwaukee Forever" celebrates afrofuturism while connecting Black and Latino culture through music, dance, food, fashion and more. It'll be hosted by WYMS-FM (88.9), aka Radio Milwaukee, and Hyfin, the station's urban alternative streaming station, at Radio Milwaukee's studios at 220 E. Pittsburgh Ave. from 7 to 11 p.m. Dec. 10.
