5 things to do in Milwaukee this weekend, from Independent Bookstore Day to drone races
1. Art in the Green at Mitchell Park Domes
Work by 31 local and regional artists will be on display, and for sale, at Art in the Green in the greenhouse at the Mitchell Park Domes, 524 S. Layton Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 29-30. There'll be food and entertainment available throughout the Domes. Tickets are $9, $6 for kids ages 3 to 12, and free for children 2 and younger and for members of Friends of the Domes. 2. Independent Bookstore Day
Hundreds of shops across the country will be taking part in Independent Bookstore Day April 29, with day-exclusive deals and other doings. Among the stores are four in the Milwaukee area: Boswell Books, 2559 N. Downer Ave.; Lion's Tooth, 2421 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.; La Revo Books, 3016 W. 3. Buster Keaton's 'The General' with live music at Bradley Symphony Center
One of the masterpieces of the silent-film era, Buster Keaton's "The General," is showing with live musical accompaniment courtesy the Waukesha Area Symphonic Band at the Bradley Symphony Center at 3 p.m. April 30. 4. Ice Storm Drone Racing Competition at Pettit National Ice Center
More than 70 drone pilots will take to the air (well, their drones will) over the rink at the Pettit National Ice Center for the second Ice Storm Drone Racing Competition, with races starting at 9 a.m. April 29 and 30. 5. Riverwest Pub Crawl
A dozen or so locations are taking part in the revived Riverwest Pub Crawl from noon to 7 p.m. April 29. A $10 wristband gets you drink specials at participating joints; the wristbands are available at Amorphic Beer, Gathering Place Brewing Company, Black Husky Brewing and Company Brewing.
