Start your weekend off Friday night with Titus Andronicus at the Bishop Bar in downtown Bloomington. You can follow that by laughing along with Ryan Beck either Friday or Saturday at the Comedy Attic. Also on Saturday, dogs and their owners can participate in a special egg hunt in Switchyard Park. If you're more into action and mountains, get a seat at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater for the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour. Beginning April 4, there will be events remembering Martin Luther King Jr. throughout Bloomington.

Titus Andronicus at the Bishop on Friday

American indie rock band Titus Andronicus performs Friday at the Bishop, 123 S. Walnut St., as part of its The Will to Live tour. Nashville rockers Country Westerns also will be playing at the 18-plus show that begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 day of the show. For more or tickets, go to www.thebishopbar.com.

Laugh with Ryan Beck at Comedy Attic on Friday or Saturday

Stand-up comedian Ryan Beck returns to the Comedy Attic for two nights of laughs. Beck will be on stage at 7 and 9:15 p.m. both nights at 123 S. Walnut St. He's a regular at the Comedy Cellar in New York City and has been featured on Comedy Central.

Mad Paws Doggie Egg Hunt on Saturday at Switchyard Park

A special canine egg hunt with plastic eggs filled with dog treats and prizes throughout the dog park at Switchyard Park will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday. For dog owners there will be exhibitor booths with pet-related information. All well-behaved dogs on leashes no longer than 6 feet are welcome to participate with their owners.

Mountain films Saturday and Sunday at Buskirk-Chumley Theater

Action-packed films that encompass mountains in some way will be shown at 7 p.m. April 1 (doors open at 6) and 5 p.m. April 2 (doors open at 4) as part of the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour. For two nights, films from a few minutes to more than half an hour in length will be on the screen at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, 114 E. MLK Remembrance Week begins April 4

A week of remembrance and celebration of African American history in Bloomington through art and storytelling will begin April 4, which marks the 55th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s death.

The week begins with a film screening of Carmen Jones at 5-7 p.m. April 4 at the Indiana University Wells Library Screening Room 048 at 1320 E. 10th St. A panel discussion will follow. The screening is free but tickets are required. Register at https://bton.in/M7ejb.

Then on April 5, a discussion of the 1964 book "Why We Can't Wait," by Martin Luther King Jr. will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Morgenstern's Bookstore and Cafe, 849 S. Auto Mall Road. Members of the community and MLK commission members will facilitate the conversation. Kid-friendly activities including arts and crafts centered on the values and teachings of MLK will be available.
