Jun. 11—The Dollar Bank Pittsburgh Three Rivers Arts Festival ends Sunday. That's one of five choices on how to spend the weekend.

Final arts festival weekend

The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts wraps up Sunday. There will be entertainment on the main stage at Point State Park featuring Sugaray Rayford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Caroline Rose at 7:30 on Saturday and Son Little at 7:30 on Sunday.

There will be food vendors. The Artist Market booths, which feature more than 150 independent artists selling a range of handmade items, are located in Point State Park, the Benedum Lot, Trust Oasis and the new Allegheny Overlook Pop-Up Park.

Steel City Con

Steel City Con, a convention of pop-culture memorabilia, artwork, comic books, toys and movie and television replicas is Friday through Sunday at the Monroeville Convention Center.

Television, movie and sports celebrities will be available for autographs. There will be discussion panels, photo opportunities, contests and costumes. Celebrities such as William Shatner of "Star Trek," "MASH" cast members Loretta Swit and Jamie Farr and Melissa Gilbert of "Little House on the Prairie" are scheduled to attend for some or all of the three-day event.

World Square

"World Square — Welcoming All of Pittsburgh's Neighbors" returns Friday through Sunday in Market Square, Downtown.

The three-day event features international live music, food and handcrafted items for sale from people from Mexico, West Africa, Costa Rica, Peru and Afghanistan.

Organizers chose to host it over three consecutive days during the same time as the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival in nearby Point State Park because of the increase in foot traffic versus a weekly Friday schedule.

Children's Museum reopening

Children's Museum of Pittsburgh in the North Side reopens Saturday after 15 months being closed because of the pandemic. During the closure, exhibits were "re-imagined" and upgrades were made to safely accommodate guests. The museum implemented a timed-ticketing system.

The museum will debut of "Emotions at Play with Pixar's Inside Out," based on the animated film. There is also the Kindness Gallery, which is an exhibit offering creative ways to communicate and show kindness.

The MuseumLab adjacent to the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh on the North Side will be open Saturdays and Sundays beginning this Saturday. It offers kids experiences in art, tech and making things

Masks will be required.

Children under age 3 do not have to wear a mask.

Kid's Day at Schenley Plaza

Schenley Plaza in Oakland is hosting Kid's Day from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. There will be free activities such as a balloon artist, crafts and performers. Rides on the PNC Carousel will be free. The carousel was renovated in 2020.

The plaza celebrated its15th anniversary earlier this week.

The five-acre area was restored by Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and community partners in 2006.

The Plaza features a lawn, seating areas, a tented structure, dining kiosks, as well as The Porch at Schenley restaurant.
