Nov. 25—Light 'em up

Light Up Ligonier will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday on the Ligonier Diamond.

Santa will come to town for a countdown to the flipping of the switch to illuminate the bandstand, trees and holiday decorations on the Diamond.

Horse-drawn carriage rides will be available.

Curated crafts

A mini craft and vendor show is planned for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin.

Sponsored by Irwin Business & Professional Association, the event will feature a curated selection of handmade goods. Pittsburgh polka musician Mikey Dee will play holiday tunes from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Deck the halls

Opening hours for the 32nd annual Festival of Lights will be 1:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Samuel Warden Mansion, Church and Walnut streets, Mt. Pleasant. Hosted by the Braddock Trail Chapter DAR, the festival features two floors of trees decorated by individuals, organizations and businesses.

The event will include light refreshments and a basket raffle.

The festival continues from 1:30-9 p.m. Sunday and Dec. 2-3, 7-9 p.m. Dec. 1 and noon-4 p.m. Dec. 4, with daily door prize drawings.

Trees are offered for sale, and visitors can vote for their favorites. Purchased trees can be picked up from 5 to 6 p.m. Dec. 4, at the end of the festival or by arrangement.

Admission is $6, or free to those 12 and younger. Proceeds benefit maintenance and repairs at the mansion.

Yuletide tours

Yuletide candlelight tours will be conducted from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Compass Inn Museum, 1386 Route 30, Laughlintown.

Docents in period attire will share the history of the inn and the lives of travelers and innkeepers of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, along with holiday- themed stories. Refreshments will be served.

Tours also are planned for 4-8 p.m. Dec. 3-4 and 10-11. Tickets can be purchased in advance or on-site, depending on availability.

Old-school rockers

Rock music fans have a choice of two weekend concerts at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin.

—Box of Rain, 8 p.m. Saturday. The six-piece band pays tribute to the music of the Grateful Dead, circa 1968-74. The revolving, all-star lineup includes current and former members of Dark Star Orchestra, Living Earth, Zen Tricksters, Boris Garcia and Dead On Live. A ticket is $28.

—Artimus Pyle, 8 p.m. Sunday. Pyle is one of two surviving original members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, doing two stints with the band between 1974 and 1991. Pyle and his band recently produced a tribute album to Skynyrd and its founding vocalist and lyricist, Ronnie Van Zant. Special guest for the evening will be Six Gun Sally. A ticket is $39.
